Programs:
Our programs are designed to help children learn at their own pace. Group activities are designed with the developmental needs of each age group in mind. A good deal of time is allotted for children to explore the various interest centers in their classroom.
We also take advantage of our ever-changing Wisconsin weather by providing stimulating outdoor play experiences in all seasons. Center field trips are planned monthly, they provide children with new opportunities outside the classroom.

Infants & Toddlers
Welcome to the Infant and Toddler Rooms: Our program is based on your child’s individual schedule to ensure the same loving care that is given at home. Our staff to child ratio is kept low with small groups to maintain a home like feeling. Our infant and toddlers are encouraged to discover the new world around them. All our staff have been certified in CPR, SIDS, Child Abuse and Neglect, and Shaken Baby Training. Our staff creates a developmentally appropriate lesson plan that enhances your child's daily experiences.

A Day in the Infant / Toddler Room
We have a lot of fun in the Infant and Toddler Rooms. We are always busy with singing songs, reading books, doing art projects, and most importantly, reaching individual goals for each child. There is always interaction between your child and their teachers!
We also love to go outside on those nice summer days when the weather is less than 90 degrees. We love buggy rides or just sitting on the playground blowing bubbles or listening to songs and stories. So please make sure your child has sunscreen and a hat. We even go out on cold days if the weather is 20 degrees or above so for those cold months please have a winter hat, coat, and mittens.

Our classroom is theme based, meaning every week has a theme and everyday we discuss a different topic pertaining to that theme while integrating arts and crafts projects, large and small motor, and play into our day.
We divide our classrooms into different centers: Blocks, Dramatic Play, Art, Sensory, Table Toys, Writing Area, and Quiet/Reading Area. We also integrate new and exciting centers that complement our learning and themes.

What Do We Do in Preschool Room B?
Circle time is a group gathering during which we share our ideas, plans, and observations. Circle time activities are designed to stimulate children's thinking, and enrich their social skills, and expand their attention spans.
Large-motor activities give children the opportunity to use their muscles, as well as their imaginations as they engage in fun, healthy exercises, such as: running, jumping, and climbing.
Fine-motor activities help improve small-muscle development and hand-eye coordination. Some common items found in the fine-motor/manipulative area include puzzles, beads and laces, pegboards, crayons, and scissors.
Art activities help children creatively express their thoughts and feelings. They help reinforce fine-motor skills and concept development in areas such as colors, shapes, and size relationships.
Dramatic-play activities help children express themselves, practice life skills, improve social skills, increase self-esteem, build vocabulary, and solve problems.
Music activities promote children's listening skills, creative expression, and social skills. In music, children can explore sound, volume, tempo, and rhythm.
Science activities offer children many hands-on opportunities for observation, exploration, investigation, making predictions, and experimentation.
Block play gives children experience with many different concepts, such as shape and size discrimination, spatial relationships, number skills, balance, organization, cause and effect, and classification. Cooperative play skills, problem solving, and creativity are also promoted in block play.
Story time is designed to help children develop an appreciation and enjoyment of literature. Reading activities enhance children's vocabulary and comprehension skills, and also expand their knowledge base.
We also concentrate on one letter of the alphabet every week. To find out what letter we are on, please look at the lesson plans that are located on the bulletin board in our classrooms. We will work on recognizing this letter, sounding it out, and beginning to write it.
The Preschool Room B classroom is a busy classroom with a lot of activity and learning going on everyday. Our staff work diligently to prepare your children for success in kindergarten.
School Age
We offer a program for our school age children that allows them to continue forming friendships with those children they are attending school with. We gear our school-age program to the likes and interests of the children. A variety of games, art and craft activities, outdoor play and just having good friends around making those extra morning and afternoon hours a lot more constructive and fun. We also offer care on off days, and Winter and Spring break.
Discovery Days Wind Lake offers a before and after school program at the center. Bussing is available to and from Lakeview Elementary School. We provide cereal, milk, and juice for breakfast in the morning and we will also provide a snack in the afternoon. Please let us know if your child has any food allergies.

Due to safety concerns and state licensing requirements each child must be walked in and signed in daily by a parent or adult.
